The 15th of January I will show a brand new performance (so fresh it’s still gestating) at the London performance storytelling club Tailspin. The performance in question is Fisher King Blues – Looking for the Grail in all the wrong places.
It is based in part on the fascinating life story of the German Grail Knight and scholar Otto Rahn, who some have said has been one of the inspirations for the character of Indiana Jones.
If you are in London next Thursday, come experience a tale of persecution and oppression, a tale of deliverance and connection. All in the name of truth.
Whom does the Grail serve?
Here is the blurb of the show:
The land is torn. The voices of the wells are lost. In a boat on a lake a lame man is sitting, fishing for something he does not know.
In the 1930s a young German scholar travels Europe in search of the Grail. Back home a growing Eagle casts a shadow he cannot escape.
A poet lost in the clutches of madness. A fish out of water. The search for light when all else is dark. Fisher King Blues blends the magical and the historical – the legend of Parsifal with the life story of Otto Rahn.
Torgrim Mellum Stene is a Norwegian performance storyteller. He has entranced audiences across Europe and the globe (Ireland, Greece, Iran, South Africa and more) with his filmatic and vivid stories. Torgrim often combines mythical, historical and personal material in his performances. His debut at Tailspin will be his first time performing on a UK stage.
